João Sá was born in 1970 in Suresnes, Hauts-de-Seine (France) and resides in Portugal, in the municipality of Esposende, where at the age of 13, had his first contact with stonework through the local quarries. At 20 years old, on his own initiative and working part-time, he began creating stone sculptures. Since then, João Sá has been developing his activity as a self-taught artist, creating figurative stone sculptures. With a career spanning over 30 years, João Sá has been constantly refining his artistic style, drawing inspiration from classical art and nature, seeking to involve his work with textures and the natural shapes of the stones.
Alexandre Sá was born in Portugal in 1992 and also resides in the municipality of Esposende. From a young age, he accompanied João Sá career and learned stonework from his father, following his evolution and learning the techniques of stonework throughout his childhood. In 2015, Alexandre Sá graduated in Graphic Design, and from 2017, he began working full-time with João Sá. Since then, both have been sharing ideas and techniques for their works, seeking a free and expressive artistic approach.
